New version WriteChemoLE 1.25

With this version we have added the AUC ceiling due to recent changes in serum creatinine measurement and overdosing on carboplatin. Details of the issue can be found the FDA site. We have also with version 1.24 made changes to the consent template. To get the new template please go to 'Tools' and select 'Default Consent Text' and this will update your default consent to the newest version. With version 1.24 we have added a header function that will appear at the beginning of the order print that will describe the regimen or what ever information you enter.

We are always open to suggestions and your feedback.

In addition to fixing some of the bugs following new features have been added:

Route selection is now a drop down menu to allow for easier selection. Also, it is consistent with JACHO requirement of abbreviation e.g. SQ is SC
Added a LINK to quickly search PubMed for the regimen selected with one click only.

WriteChemoLE version 1.08 with "a Cost Module in Beta"

WriteChemoLE version 1.08 is now released and with this release some minor bugs are fixed . We have also added a "Cost" section for each regimen based on HCPSC and payment limit of drugs and resource intensity weight for pharmacy/nursing time. It is in development and will not have any impact on the remainder of the application as we improve the module and, as usual, we will welcome your suggestions.

WriteChemoLE purchasing changed to Paypal!

We have tried the Adobe AIR Shibuya platform to monetize our product but so far the user experience has not been positive. It is possible that the platform is still in beta version or it is not a good fit for our product. The team at Adobe has been very helpful but we decided to move our product purchasing and subscription to PayPal as it was in the past.

How to transfer database to WriteChemoLE from WriteChemoSE

As of April 1st 2010 WriteChemoSE will stop functioning and to continue to use "your WriteChemoSE-database" it needs to be transferred to a new encrypted database. The process is quite simple but is will take 5-9 minutes for completion. Please follow the steps below:

Make sure you have downloaded WriteChemoLE and installed the application. If you have not yet downloaded the application you can download it here.
Sign in to the application with your username and password (same as WriteChemoSE).
You will be prompted to transfer your database

Click "YES"
This will open up a "Select a File" window. Select your previous database from this window. You may need to find the folder in which your database is present and select it.

In Windows XP the default folder and database file can be found by following these steps:

Go to "C:/Documents and Settings"
then open your account folder (if your username is "joe" your folder name is "joe")
then open folder "Application Data". (if you do not see this folder you have to unhide hidden folder and files from your file options)
then open folder "com.Xmedica.WriteChemoSExxxxxxxxxxx" where x is bunch of numbers.
then open "Local Store"
your database file should be here as "UserWCSEDB_XX.db" where XX is numbers. Select this file and click open.

In Windows 7 the default folder and database file can be found by following these steps:

Go to "C:/users"
then open your account folder (if your username is "joe" your folder name is "joe")
then open folder "AppData". (if you do not see this folder you have to unhide hidden folder and files from your file options)
then open "Roaming"
then open folder "com.Xmedica.WriteChemoSExxxxxxxxxxx" where x is bunch of numbers.
then open "Local Store"
your database file should be here as "UserWCSEDB_XX.db" where XX is numbers. Select this file and click open.

In Mac the default folder and database file can be found by following these steps:

Open Finder and select your username e.g. "joe"
then open "Library"
the open "Preferences"
then open folder "com.Xmedica.WriteChemoSExxxxxxxxxxx" where x is bunch of numbers.
then open "Local Store"
your database file should be here as "UserWCSEDB_XX.db" where XX is numbers. Select this file and click open.

Updating New Database window will open.

Please DO NOT INTERRUPT. It may take up to 10 minutes to transfer all data and encrypt depending on size of the database and processing speed of your computer. Once completed your database should have been transferred to WriteChemoLE and encrypted. Proceed to use the application.

WriteChemoSE has been well received and has over 500 registered users. We have now updated this application to add new features and are introducing our new local edition WriteChemoLE. We will cease to support WriteChemoSE as of April 1, 2010 7am PST.

WriteChemoLE is on a proven platform - Adobe AIR® - combining desktop strength with Internet flexibility.
There are over 300 regimens in the database and it continues to grow. Nearly, all standard regimens are referenced and available to you with a single click.
Few of the new features in WriteChemoLE are:

Encrypted database
Ability to share your database
Create your own templates from scratch or by editing standard regimens and save them for future use.
Save the last regimen for your patient in the integrated desktop database for quick retrieval to edit last cycle or generate next cycle orders.
Retrieve prior regimens, review and/or use.
Save your patients' information for reuse on your system.

Update available (version 1.2.41)

With this update we have fixed some of the bugs:

adding new drug to the treatment did not increase the size of the grid and was not visible without scrolling.
Active patient function corrected. The bug resulted in patients who had a new regimen written label as inactive. Patient was not lost but only could be seen on patient list if all patient button selected. Problem has been fixed.

We added new features:

Prior and current dose modifications can be viewed on screen by clicking "show dose mods" button. Button is not visible if there is/are no dose modifications to be regimen.
Selecting "Clear Dose Adjustment Reasons" removes all prior information on dose modifications.
We have added PDM (Parenteral Drug Manual) Info feature. Select the drug name hold Ctrl-key and left click. You will have options to copy, paste, insert items and PDM Info.
If calculated or adjust final dose is less than 10% of ideal dose for patient the program will color the dose text in green. If the calculated or adjusted dose id above 10% of ideal dose the dose text is in red.
If you set the dose to 0 (zero) the program will assume that you held this drug for this cycle.

We have added new regimens to the database.

Welcome to WriteChemo Blog,

We have established this blog to talk about chemotherapy and WriteChemo applications. Anyone can post their relevant thoughts on our applications whether that is WriteChemoBE ot WriteChemoSE.
We will also use this blog to keep users up-to-date on upgrades and changes to the applications.
We have currently 376 registrations and it is growing daily.
